Every student has the right to come to school to learn, grow, and develop their talents and interests. Talent development is the repeated encouragement and support of identified talents and abilities, and the nurturing of new strengths and passions. A talent-focused approach to curriculum provides students with explicit options for exploring and expressing those abilities within the topics and units of study. This session examines the three E’s of talent development: Enjoyment, Engagement, and Enthusiasm and connects them with a framework for creating talent-focused experiences in their classroom. Participants will explore the non-negotiable elements of authentic product development, and discuss how opportunities for student choice, empowerment, and creative engagement can be integrated into core content lessons and units of study. Designed as an interactive workshop, participants will create their own Type III experiences and will share them with others.
