Excellence in gifted education is defined by inclusive and equitable practices in vibrant, culturally responsive classrooms.  Students thrive when seeing themselves represented in the curriculum and the classroom.  They feel they belong, are seen, accepted, and respected. Through culturally responsive and sustainable teaching practices, we can holistically embrace our gifted children—how they think, feel, and learn. This student-centered approach and attitude help us understand who our students are and where they come from: their backgrounds, cultures, families, and communities. The presenters share methods for creating spaces that welcome and empower students to contribute to the classroom community, elevate their voices, and create authentic learning opportunities. Participants will engage in ways to embrace equity and celebrate diversity in the classroom with practices that honor individuals’ cultures. This session equips educators with the tools for culturally responsive teaching by offering practical strategies for integrating inclusive practices into the classroom learning environment.
