The Spiral Adaptation Lens: Understanding the Nature and Needs of Gifted Students offers a powerful new way to see twice exceptionality (2e)—not as a fixed trait, but as an evolving process of adaptation. Twice-exceptional learners often develop unevenly, showing remarkable abilities in some areas while struggling in others. The Spiral Adaptation Lens (SAL) helps teachers interpret these patterns through a developmental and relational lens, making sense of intensity, sensitivity, and variability as natural aspects of growth. Participants will explore how curiosity, connection, and reflection can transform classroom moments of challenge into insight. The session provides concrete, strength-based strategies for instruction, collaboration with parents, and social-emotional support—tools that help educators respond flexibly to the diverse needs of 2e students. Grounded in current research and classroom practice, this session invites teachers to see gifted and twice exceptional learners more fully and to design environments where every student’s potential can unfold authentically.
